821 SP carbon mudguard rubbed against black

  1. ...Forks

I have just had some new tyres fitted and given the bike a clean. I have just noticed that the carbon front mudguard has been rubbing on the front forks. As the bike is a 2013, 1200 mile bike.

Any suggestions? Is this a warranty or live with it thing?

  2. I'd say so, if it's a design fault you want them sorted

  3. Definitely seems that way doesn't it.
Would this be a new front fork and new mudguard. Seems quite excessive I would imagine.

  4. Well I'd imagine something can be done professionally to touch the fork coating up and then it's a replacement decal. I guess you've got to call the dealer and see what they say.

Have you investigated the fitment of the guard? If you losen the bolts, perhaps fit a black nylon washer behind them will it raise it away from the fork?

  5. There was a missing screw at the bottom of the 2 fitments, I have taken a screw of the other side and pushed firmly when fitting the mudguard so that the mudguard is further away. I did not have a rubber washer at hand to move the mudguard away.

Im going to hunt something down, Im not too fussed to be honest. It would be interested to see what the dealer says. I think a new fork, labour and carbon mudguard is a little much. Then again if its a design fault, why not get it fixed in the extreme way.

  6. well to be fair unless it rubs when all screws are present and torqued correctly etc then its hard to say design fault.

youll have to see what it's like when you've got all the screws in place because if its ok then you may very well not get anything, they'll probably say that it's ultimately down to you to keep the bike roadworthy and things tightened up etc.

  7. Very true although if the screw fell out and it started to rub either due to the design fault of the carbon mudguard, it's hardly 'my fault'.

I don't think Ducati Aylesbury would say something like that. I would hope they would be little more helpful. I would imagine a washer, but of touch up paint and a new decal is all I need really. Oh yes and an extra screw.
