Looking at the comparison data it's clear the 821 is a higher revving more modern motor, but the 1100 makes 10 more foot pounds of torque at a much lower RPM. Question to those who have the 13 or newer 821SP, are you happy with it? Did you upgrade from a 1100 hyper? Is there significant difference in ride ability?
haven't ridden the 1100, but the 821 is a lot of bike. The traction control and abs make a big difference to the way you can use the bike and for me, the 18,000 shim service was a real decision point. You can ride it like a supermoto, or an upright sportsbike.
Other way round. Went for the 1100 for the grunt, also the cost. An 821 will cost roughly 2-3k more....
Cheers fella, that was what I was tying to understand. I love the DS motor but the newer 821 does tempt, but prices are dear and is it that much better?
