Hi guys. I've successfully adjusted my gear pedal following the owners manual and decided to adjust my rear brake pedal except it's all gone wrong and the manual is no help. The pedal position dosnt seem to change, the only thing that did change is what I presume is the banjo switch and no my brake lights is out of sync with the pedal. Any help or a step by step would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Got a 1098s myself, so my experience may be a bit different from yours. But all i can say is that any amount of adjustment makes no difference what so ever...............................the back brake is useless for any normal braking lol. It's fine for holding at traffic lights and on steep roads. But don't even think about it for any form of normal braking......................use the fronts and you'll be fine.
Ah! i have an 1198 the back brake has always been Sh#t i decided to purchase an easy bleed kit operated via a pistol type pressure after 10-20 attempts still sh#t my local Duc man advised taking the rear caliper of the bike and raising it above the master cylinder then bleed! it bloody works!i now have something that works even locks the back wheel at about 30mph, shame i only normally use the front brake, but at least it will pass the MOT easier
I presume you are just trying to adjust the position of the pedal, if so ( if it's like my 748) it is a balancing act between the brake light switch adjustment and the adjusting rod on the pedal itself. You must leave about 5 mm of play or your rear brake will likely stick on when hot. Steve
Thanks guys but I stuffed it. It no longer holds the bike at traffic on a hill unless I'm standing on it and the light has a mind of its own. I spent hours trying to balance it out but every time I think it's right after 5 mins of testing it randomly flashes or not when it wants. I also stuffed the gear shift adjustment. I got it in the perfect position and with hind sight I didn't tighten it enough and you guessed it. It fell off on the a406 I had to pull over after 20 mins I managed to bang the bold into first don't ask me how and I rode back in first doing about 40/50 7000rpm. Wasn't redlining so hopefully I didn't damage any thing else. I've ordered a new rod and when it comes I'm going straight to the garage lol
