848 Air Filter Question

  1. Hi guys,

I have a question regarding air filters for the 848, I bought my 2009 848 a few years ago and it came with the termi slip-ons fitted. However during servicing it was noted that the Ducati performance air filter was not installed and still running on the standard ECU.

I have now bought the Ducati Performance ECU and had planned to also buy the recommended dp air filter also but after reading a few posts on different sites it seems the original filters do not give a great fit.

What are your thoughts on this and if I change to say a K&N instead will this then take me back to the requirement for a re- map thus defeating the purpose of buying the correct ECU instead of just getting my standard one remapped in the first place?

Tried searching the forum first but never really found a clear answer, so any help or opinions appreciated.

  2. The DP ECU is mapped to benefit from a freer flowing air filter like the DP one but that is not to say you could not use an after market alternative like as you say the K&N or the Sprint which is popular. At best the DP ECU is a 1 size fits all and will not give you the same result as a bespoke map but it is perfectly adequate. You should be fine just changing the filter. Andy

  3. Thanks Andy,
I will go for an alternative filter then, I still plan to go down a remap route at a later date but this will be fine in the short term
