848 back to standard

  1. i`m selling/part exing my 08 848 in a few weeks and will be taking all the bling off including the termis and ecu.
I am planning on buying a 12 plate corse se and i was just wondering if the ecu off the 08 is suitable for a corse,i am not mechanically minded(much to the disgust of my dad who probably could build a tank out of a toaster:rolleyes:)so your opinions would be gratefully recieved,oh and any tips for removal of termis and ecu would be ace, thanks ,Rob:upyeah:

  2. As far as I am aware the ecu will fit but you would have to remap it using Ducatidiag as the SE has traction control (I think) and I believe a couple of other changes. The Termi's would also fit but I think I read something about the later models having the spring attachments on the opposite side to the earlier models, unless yours are the slash cut ones anyway ? As for removal of the silencers it only takes 5 minutes, two bolts at the sides, the joining bolt and the springs. The ecu is located below the battery on the left hand side, two bolts hold it on, sometimes a bit fiddly to get the nuts back on but nothing serious. Just make sure you don't force the two plugs out, they operate on a cam so once you actually open the catch you just push the cover back and it extracts the plug from the ecu, you will see what I mean when you actually do it. There is also an earth lead that sometimes you may miss, this just attaches to one of the bolts that hold the ecu in place. Fitting the other ecu is just the reverse, simply line up the plugs making sure that you have the ecu the correct way and push the cams forward and it will pull the plug onto the ecu pins. The air filter is inside one (either side ) of the air tubes but it is a nose fairing off job, depends on if you have the original filter and can bothered to change it !! Good Luck.

  3. thanks for the reply,I will probably leave the air filter and when I get the new bike get Ducati to fit the termis and ecu and replace the filter they can set it up for me then, just need to find a corse now, there's not many about for sale, would be even better if I find one with termis already fitted :)

  4. As ian said the ecu's aren't interchangeable. The old one will need to be reflashed. Also the cans will need the loops for the springs relocating. If you're selling yours privately you'd be better off leaving it all on t o make the bike more desirable and hopefully get a quicker sale. There's loads of 848's on the market at the moment.

I wouldn't even bother trying to fit them to a Evo. If you want to put yours back to standard I'd take the filter, ecu and cans off and sell them as a job lot, putting the cash towards cns for your new bike.

  5. Thanks for the input.I have the old style termis which I prefer to the new ones, didn't think for one minute that u couldn't put the old style onto the evo, will have to reconsider my options, the new style are very expensive in my opinion,so here's hoping I find a corse with termis already fitted :)

  6. No cos of the TC

  7. And immobiliser wont work as ecu and dash linked.

Why not sell the termis seperately, put the dosh towards new set of akros ;-)
