I had some tyres fitted yesterday and while I was there I had a proper set up done on my 2013 evo (non Ohlins rear shock). The rear had zero static sag, not a bit! Which explains why it was stiff, but frustratingly he moved the preload almost all the way up the shock and could only get 5mm into it! It's better but he was stumped. Anyone had similar? What a complete pain. The rear is a bit better now, but still needs to have more give. I guess he could have changed the spring, although other jobs were booked in so had no time.
how long have you been riding it like that then long enough for a set of new tyres.....Ducatis are so individual and even the cheap ones are really adjustable.....i would have had it personalised before i left the shop with it.....particularly if you are going to ride it on the shoit roads...
Tbh I knew it didn't have a lot of sag but I wasn't aware it was so bad. I will get an Ohlins and get it set up for my weight, also I'm going to get a ride height adjuster as my 848 doesn't have one and then the ride height can be done. Just frustrated that u pay 11k and it's that bad....
Fitted the new Ohlins last night, what an utter pig of a job! A few notes for people that haven't done it but have a similar model/set up to me: - The Exhaust Butterfly is a pain, there is a bracket that sits behind the frame when the exhaust is fitted and it's got SO much locktight on from the factory and is a huge pain to get out! (Next time I'll probably look at just undoing the Servo Motor at the front!) - On the 848 Evo there is a O2 sensor on the bend of the exhausts headers that sticks up behind the swingarm. There is no nice way of getting the headers off without pulling stuff about, I had to pull the headers out the way while a mate moved the swingarm up and down and eventually it came out. -My footrest mounts have also been Locktighted to hell, and as soon as I put any force through them with an allen key socket have started to round out the middle of the bolt, so be careful. I did find I could get away without taking it off, just jiggled the swingarm so that the hole was exposed underneath the bracket. So Yes, I really hope that the Ohlins in standard form is a good step on from the Showa, tbh it still doesn't seem to have much sag, my plan though is to get it set up over Christmas. At least I am used to taking the shock out I guess now! There are tons of guides kicking around so didn't do one of them, just thought I would share some specifics regarding my situation.
ha, 90KG mate, TBH it was pretty late by the time we had finished last night and I just bounced on it a few times, hardly scientific! I am hoping I can get away from work early tonight and take it out for a run, over Christmas I am going to get it serviced and sprung for me anyway, I think I actually need a harder spring, with less Pre-load on it, judging by some internet searches! I had a 105Nm on my Daytona which was perfect, the Ducati one is only a 80Nm but has loads of pre-load on it apparently... So I read... Either way I am sure it will be better, and then over Christmas will be Mint!
82kg is plus my gear, but still seem lighter than you. My daytona 675 was a 06 and that was soft as anything. I think they got firmer as models got changed
Yeah, that's fair enough. Will see what its like later. My Daytona as standard was stiff as such but the damping was horrific! Was like there was a shock out of Christmas cracker back there.
