848 848 Evo ride....

  1. I have a 2013 evo and just wondered how people on here found the ride at 30mph in say 2nd or 3rd gear.... ?

  2. So not 'jerky'?

  3. Ar right, bit more specific ;-)

In 3rd at sub 30 yes it will be, how bad depends on how loose your chain is. 2 nd is fine down to 2nd. I dropped a tooth off the front which ade 20 in 2nd easy with a little clutch slip less than that.

Which is exactly the same as almost every bike I've ever had

  4. There a bitch to ride in traffic or sub 30mph.

I've got an Oberon slave that helped the clutch a bit, one down on the front sprocket which made a difference to the gear required to do 30, but it's the filtering in traffic that still is troublesome........... But I'm thinking that's a v twin thing.

  5. Thanks for your replies. Bitch with a capital b! Just have to stay over 30mph ;-)

  6. Adjust your riding style when low down. I did and it works for me :upyeah:

  7. I have standard gearing and mine's fine, in 2nd gear that is. I would think 3rd gear is way too high for 30mph.

  8. My previous Monster 1100S was very jerky, so I did the 14T front sprocket mod which certainly helped.

I'm actually finding the 1098 can sit at about 27mph, so, as long as I can get the traffic behind me to slow down when entering a 30 limit, I just bimble along at that speed - and it's that little bit more fun when you exit the 30 zone :)

  9. Yeah, I think I tend to sit around 27 as it's easier that way, even with the 14t sprocket. It was a pain in the backside with the 15th tooth sprocket tbh and there is a definite step in the throttle opening when pulling away, I am sure a remap is worth it's weight it gold to clean up the bottom end manners

  10. ^^ yeah be good to hear if anyones had a mapping that improves that low end pickup ?
