I've put this in the technical section as I was struggling to the to O2 sensor off (access is so hard I eventually managed it with a tap spanner) but I'll post it here too in case anyone's interested......I'm also quite happy with my handy work! The original exhaust on my 848 has such a bad finish I thought I'd have a go at polishing it up. Its a nightmare to get the exhaust off and I left the header on for the front cylinder as its not on show. The first bit polished was the short pipe to the rear cylinder. It shows just HOW bad the finish is on the original pipe. [/IMG] It took about 4 hours of polishing to get a good finish on the whole of the exhaust, starting with a wire brush then course polishing and a final fine polish. I also did a bit of hand polishing with some t-cut polish. I got a dremmel polishing kit too which had some small wire brush disks and buffing pads which are essential to clean up the (appalling) welds and around the spring hooks. Im happy with the results. Im sure it could be better but I ran out of patience! [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG]
You need an emulator or a flash to turn the sensors off. Think Wilf can do it ;-) plus with termis and ecu not sure if the DP does it already? May be worth calling MR to check If yiu just blank them, worth drilling and lockwiring, they have been known to fall out...
You can get the cans off easier ;-) (joking but tbh that is actually why I took mine out as to get the shock out, which I did several times, you have to move that link pipe) More importantly its coz you have disable the butterfly thingy on the side so it stays open all the time...like I say the DP chip may do some of that anyway.
They are for environmentalist get rid:biggrin: retrospective adjustment based on what's just happened rather than what's about to:smile: You need.......full system, custom map......dyno...... you've already practiced the polishing bit so you can just repeat that
You see on your 6th picture the lines..they are marks from the mandrel bending process…..they will polish out with a professional process..
Yeah I didn't want to get too tough with it as an amateur. It's kind of a curiosity thing in a way. If the finish lasts and I like it it'll get put on the 'to do' list professionally....... In the meantime I avoided a night of recorded Strictly so everyone's a winner
