  1. Its that time of year again and i can't help but think i have been took on, i had full 10 years no claims and i am a member of the VJMC and got a bit of discount on my classic insurance for my Yamaha 350LC with an agreed value of 5K great but was told my no claims wouldn't be taken into account, no problem i thought,

What i didn't know was that after 2 years i lost the 10 years no claims,( in the small print somewhere) i found this out when i went to get insurance for my new bike 2010 848 last year, so to cover both bikes on a classic policy with 1 modern bike was £500, when i asked for a quote for the 848 thats when i found out i had lost my no claims and they said i would be looked at as a new rider with no no-claims and it would cost me 1k for the year :Jawdrop:

My new quote has just come today and its £448 for both bikes classic /1 modern full comp i am still a bit ticked of with the quote and losing my no claims, i haven't phoned them yet or others for a quote.

Going to get a quote just for the 848 as now been riding it for a year but still no claims bonus to go with it, before the 848 the LC was £75 full comp.

Whats also bothering me is if i sale my LC then insurance for the 848 will rocket up as no no- claims I think i need to start getting some built up.

Anyone on here got an 848 insured with very minimum or no no-claims bonus if so what is it costing and who with.

  2. Try this lot mate, Ducati Insurance - the official UK Ducati Insurance Scheme
I had two bikes on it last year 899 and 848 Streetfighter came to £440 for the year mind you I have a few no claims bonus.
When I had my 848 in 2009 only had 3yrs NCD and was around the £500 mark but I was paying monthly which hikes it up a bit.

  3. I bought a brand new 848evo in 2012 just after tossing a Honda at the scenery and losing all the no claims I had. Insurance for that came to £1680....37 and 2 years riding.

As above for Ducati Insurance too, well worth a look. I picked up my Pani 18 months ago and they were the only ones who would touch me on it. Last year they were superb with the quote so with them again.

  4. Cheers chaps, will give Ducati a ring first.

  5. Some companies give you a pro rata extension, eg they will give you 5 years ncd even if expired by say 4 years not the usual 2. Google should be able to find them.

  6. My quote has hardly changed with them over the last few years (5) mind you it has gone up now, Last requote September 2014 was £440 (848 Strett Fighter & 899 panigale, In January I ditched the 899 and added the 1199s and they said I would have to pay extra £170 to take me to my renewal date which I thought was ok.

  7. Spoke to Ducati Insurance today and after explaining the position i am in about my loss of 10 years no claims bonus,

The full comp quote is £317 or £356 inc claims assistant and personal accident cover and thats starting from scratch again with zero no claims bonus and thats for an 848 and a Yamaha 350 lc both bikes modified.

My renewal quote wasn't £448 it was £458 from Footman James, Classic policy, so a good saving to be had and i can start getting my no claims bonus back.

    Very pleased :upyeah:
