Hi guys, my 848 has a ohlins rear shock and I have a Showa one that is slightly better condition (cosmetically) but which is the better shock for the bike?
Well I personally would get the Ohlins serviced and set up for my weight, as u already have the shock it seems silly not too
Yeah, I will give that a go. It has the ohlins on it, haven't really ridden it yet. The previous owner had bought the Showa as the ohlins is just slightly tatty looking, but very minor. Just wondered if one was significantly better than the other when set up as not ridden either.
I would say that the Ohlins is deffo more adjustable but still probably more 'controlled' in its stroke. Worth keeping the Ohlins on there but just getting it tidied up
I will do, been reading a few things now and everything seems to point to that! Just can't wait for the good weather! Thanks guys
More will stock parts and tuning parts for the Ohlins, BUT all depends on what your doing? Road? If so you can get great results with both, track the OEM S model Ohlins is better if tunned by a suss expert and works well, less fade etc, IMO the OEM Ohlins is not that much better than the Showa, a TTX etc is WAY better for track but harsh for the road and needs revalve to work well, and a propper rocker and modded shock to be right!
Ill be using for road and track, and will get it set up asap. I'm not actually sure on which onlins it is but ill look tomorrow. Thanks for the info, much appreciated
I just agreed for a local bike shop to supply and fit new spring for an Ohlins TTX (going from 90 to 80) and a service, at Ohlins, for considerably less than I've been quoted by anyone else..., additionally, I can drop it off within walking distance from my house... Thumbs up to STP, and well worth a look... STP Motorsport Moral of the story... well worth looking around, and looking local... Bob
