Will my ASV leavers, 1098R foot pegs and Oberon clutch slave cylinder off my 848 evo fit a panigale 899?
Are you getting shut then? Thought I saw your evo SE on eBay the other day. I think @d8mok wanted to fit his old levers but might have had a problem with them. Can't remember now...
The clutch slave is definitely different mate. ASV levers may well fit as it's still Brembo master cylinders
I was like that a while ago. Perfectly good bikes but sometimes change can be good. I also think that if you are thinking about a change, chances are you won't be 100% happy with your current ride. Go for it!
Sorry to throw a spanner in the works. I swapped my 1098 for an 1199 a couple of years ago but found I missed the unruliness of the 1098. I bought another 1098 earlier this year. I've kept the panigale but I wouldn't say the 1199 is better than the 1098, just different. The panigale is more forgiving I think but I'm not sure if that adds up to less exciting??:Bored:
I know what you mean. But you went for a change and realised that what you had before was a good thing. So maybe the change was worth it? I'm very much in that kind of position now. Bit the bullet and changing the 848 for a 998s. A bit similar to yours only I'm going backwards instead of forwards.
Yes I'd definitely have a change if your getting the itch. You can't really tell from a test ride you need to live with them and become accustomed to them to found out if you're happy. If you don't you'll just carry on riding the 848 wondering about it, and as said above if you don't like it or prefer the older bike you can always go back.
I saw the add on EBay I think, lovely looking bike. I was wanting to shift my Daytona and was considering another 848 evo but I rode the 899 and it addressed all of the things that ultimately made me feel I couldn't live with the 848. These were: - weight on the wrists - slow steering - ridiculous standard suspension that had no sag in the rear and was over sprung. - heat issues around seat - never 'feeling' fast. The 899 for me is much more comfy, it still gets hot but with Termi's I'm finding its ok at the mo. The more peaky engine is more rewarding as u get more of an impression of speed, which adds to the last point, the handling is so light and fast that the bike feels a little more 'twitchy' which in turn makes it feel more alive imho. I seriously wouldn't rule out picking up a really clean current model one. I just bought a 800 mile old one with Termi's and all the extras like rad guard, ventureshield on for £1800 off list price, and the dealer thinks the new one will be at least £300 more expensive, meaning I got a bike that does everything I want for £2100 less. Each to there own but I've seen a lot about people saying 'Ohlins suspension and TFT screen' and it simply isn't going to happen for sub 13k
That's not bad. What was the mileage? I'm toying with the idea of getting rid of mine too. Obviously it's the much uglier 2013 colour scheme with 7500 miles and the 2nd service done about 300 miles ago
