I do have a minor concern, on the LHS there's what I assume is the water pump etc, just above the clutch where all the coolant hoses go. I've got a little bit of a coolant leak there it seems, I'm sure I cleaned up the engine that part last week and I've now got a white residue there. Looks a lot like old chain lube but I know it isn't... then a little leaky looking browny watery marks just by there too. Has some GBRacing covers on both the clutch and the water pump housing, looks like it's dripped from the bottom of housing down the clutch cover and is then there at the bottom of clutch cover ?
I did mate, all you see under there is a little residue and a bit more of that white stuff, underneath the water pump cover there's a little more, but it's impossible as it's obviously been a 'mist' at some stage to discern where it's actually started from. I've cleaned up the lot now and will whip the fairings off tomorrow and run it up to temp and see if I can work out where anything is coming from.
As you can hopefully see in pic, it's leaking from the bottom of that assembly there. Obviously not correctly done with gasket goo. Good news is that it should be a fairly simple fix. Welcome to the world of Italian character!
Ah well, fuck it, I've had a crack at it. Removed housing, dried it all cleaned it all, checked it all. Did the gasket and refitted it all. Did the bolts up correct torque and sequence. Filled the coolant bottle, refitted cap, ran engine for a while. Then rechecked and refilled. From what I can see I have no leaks. However, I can't promise the coolant has got to the water pump ha ha. The implication from the service manual is that it seeps there from coolant bottle by itself, but hell, I don't know. Can't leave it for the 10 main running tonight as kids are in bed round here to confirm fully. So that will have to wait till tomorrow for full confirmation. I'll also then see the running temp and fan cut in temp, assuming I have one fitted on ex race bike. At the very worst, I've used up some coolant and a bit of goo gasket. But I'm pleased I've had a try tick tick tick.... Got home early, checked coolant, OK. Fired it up and ran to 100 deg, not a single drop of leakage! Also check oil filer/sump after the oil change and that's perfect too. Happy!
