Hi, My name’s Amanda and I’ve just joined the forum. It’s hard to find other people with the same bike as me - and I like the idea of having the ability to read threads about the bikes and be able to ask my own questions. I’m therefore hoping that there’s a few of you about with an SP2. This is my bike -: 1 - Are any of you aware of a good place to get a workshop manual ? 2 - In the meantime, is it easy to remove the tank ? Are there any tricky manoeuvres involved ? 3 - Have any of you experienced problems with the paint on the tank bubbling up - presumably due to rust ? Mine has a 10p-size lump raised up adjoining the petrol filler cap area . Any advice or help you can offer would be most appreciated. The bike is in mint condition, so this tank issue is gutting! Regards Amanda
The tank is ally, so shouldn't be rust. At the front of the tank, where the frame bend is welded, underneath each side is a cap head screw. It might be easier to remove side fairings. At the rear of the tank where the seat pad meets it, there should be a cut out in the seat pad so the rear fixing screw can be removed. If no cut out you will have to remove seat unit. When free, lift tank high enough to remove fuel hoses. Also check out the " Ducati 851 and 888 Forum "...
Could have been a paint chip at some time and fuel getting through to the ally or the ally oxidising. Nice bike BTW.
Welcome Dave. I see the found the correct section Why don’t you introduce yourself properly in the newbies section too
El T calls everyone Dave; welcome Amanda. Nice bike, I like the white frame, white wheel versions, I think they look best.
Many thanks. It’s a gorgeous-looker and sounds amazing Thanks for the suggestion too - makes sense ...The tank could have been resprayed without treating the metal properly.
I was wondering about the name Thanks for your comments - it’s a great looking bike and yes, I prefer the white wheels to some of the later versions.
same way as here Amanda, follow link below - welcome by the way. I have an ordinary Strada 851. http://www.ducati851and888.com/
