Well after much deliberation I’ve finally wrestled myself into putting my 851 on the market! 1991, whilst Operation Desert Storm was in full swing, Tim Berners Lee introduced the World Wide Web and Arsenal won the league as Man U get the cup winners cup, the fine chaps in Bologna (albeit Cagiva at this point) were churning out this fine specimen. Since then, it’s 32 year journey has seen it accumulate fewer than 12 thousand miles (11379) still resplendent in Ducati red and now sporting thunderous Termignoni exhausts and a carbon fibre front guard, (all original parts including elephant stamped Cagiva end cans will come with the bike) The paintwork is in fantastic condition and really shines! Original handbook and service book with a plethora of service stamps will accompany the steed! A beautiful bike no doubt and as such has been more of an ornament for me, it hasn’t seen tarmac in 2 years, although it’s regularly run and always on a battery tender. The belts were last changed by Ducati Manchester in 2020 and have done as many miles as legless hedgehog! more pics are available by request and viewings are very welcome, no current mot so test rides may be short (to the end of the drive really) this is a very clean motorcycle! it’s priced to sell at £8700 ovvno I will also take px with cash either way for a GS 150/160 or a SS180 Vespa ( other classic scooters may be considered)
As a fellow 851 ornament owner you’ll no doubt miss opening the garage door and seeing that sitting there
@Sambighair The welding, rivets and top and bottom bell shape are way off the mark for Termignonis unfortunately. The ones you have are just stickered carbon cans, which I am sure sound wonderful. The rest of the bike looks lovely and if someone wants the bike, they will be able to buy original cans, or get Silmotor ones that are really good too.
Bike can now be viewed (with some better pics) at Ducati Manchester. As always open to reasonable offers ( sorry no wotsits at this time thank you)
I wish I had seen this earlier as just committed to an MV and blown my budget for this year. If it's still available in the spring I may be your man, but I would be surprised. GLWS anyway.
It may go back to original price in spring - buy it now anyway and save yourself some money (man maths )
