Hey guys, Basically I'm looking at getting the 3M VentureShield paint protection film and fitting it once I have the bike. I have the LED headlight to be fitted and want to protect that as well so was wondering if I can just buy the 1199S pack to fit the headlights so long as the fairing and tank dimensions are all the same? I think that they are but since I don't have a couple bikes to compare is anyone able to answer it for me? Thanks lads (and ladies), Dan
It's the 'aero kit' the two side pieces clip on to each side of the nose fairing. Improves aerodynamics - supposedly. Makes the bike look a bit fatter faced. Not sure if they look better with or without them, personal choice. I think the general advice is if they are on the bike leave them on as the clips rub the paintwork on the nose under the points where they are attached which can then be seen when removed.
Ah ok, but the standard fairing is the same isn't it? Looks like someone on another forum put an 1199 Tricolore nose on an 899 so shouldn't be a problem overall I'd imagine.
I have them on my 1199S, To be honest I'd never noticed the difference until it was pointed out. I've just left mine on.
That's alright then... So long as they don't look tacky like the wide arch kits on some aftermarket car kits! I can't imagine that the VentureShield kits would have two options depending on whether you have them or not though. The overall shape is basically the same so the film should still cover the leading edge regardless I've have thought.
Pretty sure they standard on 1199s so i thought it may be releveant if you buying a ventureshield kit
Ok, thanks guys. I can't seem to find a definitive answer either way so I'll just ask them if they can supply an 899 kit with the 1199S headlight instead... Or even pay a bit more for the headlight.
