  1. Going to buy a second bike, Question is do I buy a 899 Panni or a 848 Evo LTD Edition?? Whats better ??
    Your Thoughts gentlemen!!

    Cheers
    Alan:upyeah:

  2. Being an 848 Evo owner you would get a biased opinion, but do like the 899...

  3. 2nd bike you mean 5th ,,

  4. u want something different get the 848 , looks better to me as old style ducati looks , we will badger you best pal gary tomoro I think they've still got one ,unless your at graft making your millions

  5. I have an 848 EVO corse and have never ridden an 899.......for good reason. I think it might be better than my 848!

    Ride them both and decide.

Dealers are doing deals on 848s and I expect they would be only too happy to let you have a ride.

I still prefer the looks of the 848 over the Pani though... But looks are only part of the decision making process!

Oh and the 848 will be the last of the trellis framed Ducati's. As such its a future classic and constitutes part of my pension.......................or that's what I've told my wife

  6. I think it is fair to say that an 899 will be better if you want a slightly 'updated' ergonomic feel and the electronic features that it has. There is more power, but I would say the best thing is to try both as the engine 'Character' is the important thing and the 848 is much more traditional than the more top-endy superquadro engines. That isn't to say the 899 doesn't have as much torque, it probably does but further up the range.

If you got a 848 Evo Corse SE you get traction control and the Ohlins shock and Quickshifter, so really it's just about what you feel most comfortable on.

  7. My money would be in a 899

  8. Worth pointing out that there is still a jump of £1000 to the 899, and maybe more now if u can get a 2013 model 848.

  9. You can get a new 848 for under £11k.....and that's without bartering

  10. Seems that though in the same sort of category, they are quite different bikes. Riding position, engine characteristics, handling, looks, maintenance and price all dissimilar.
I would need to weigh all of these up according to preference.
Nice choice to be faced with though.

  11. Yeah but he mentioned a 'SE' I know the standard ones are going for good money now.

One major advantage of the 899 must be that u don't have to worry about cambelt services anymore! Although I haven't seen the coatings for services on the 899 yet.

  12. Thanks for the replies I do like these for under11k new but i wish they did them in red as my Streetfighter is this colour and wanted a Red Duc hence the 899

  13. That is for a 2013 SE......WM Snells have a brand new one up for £10,995.

    Used Sales 1

At that price you could buy one and replace the bodywork with red!

  14. Or.... Just buy a standard 848 evo in red even cheaper and spend a few hundred quid on getting the suspension set up for your weight. The Ohlins is good but it's not so good u should buy a bike in a colour u hate.

The 'se' has a bigger fuel tank, again only relevant if u need it; I get around 100 miles out of my tank.

I didn't get the 848 se only because of the coulor.

  15. Could do. It depends what spec you want really. The SE has the larger (aluminium) tank which is bloody lovely IMHO. Its also got the Ohlins (which should give better results when set up), a Ducati quickshifter (not as good as an HM unit apparently but OK) and traction control.

The colours always going to be subjective. I some love it, others don't......not many think its OK.....make what you will of that!

  16. Good points for the money a se corse is a good buy, Is the panni worth the little bit extra ?? was hoping someone who has had both bike could comment ? The colour is not the deal breaker its just very close to my 1098s however do like the extras the se has !! guess I will have to try and test ride both to see what the crack is. Here is a pic of the SF to compare colour

  17. Tasty! I can see why you'd want the contrast in colours in the garage. If you're going to try both, we will expect a full writeup!

  18. yeh but mr Mario you know you've no chance of testing out up our way just buy the 848 thought you didn't like me 1199 panni well the 899 the same get the 848 ,,,go get it bought the safternoon make garys day

  19. Thats a good point Jimbo its trying to get a treat ride on the 848 the panni shoulnt be a problem ? however J L Motorcycles have a 848 eve se in unused thought I might give them a call to see how little they could do it for me awld china
