899 Track Bike, Liverpool

  1. Hi all

bought an 899 3 weeks ago for track use. Currently prepping for Andalucia first week of March. Intrigued to see how these handle on the track.
I’m coming from an S1000rr as I am after a better soundtrack and abit more soul (in-line 4s just don’t do it for me). Hopefully I’ll see some of you out on track this year. 8511195A-74CA-460C-B2B1-9F77B1BE2501.jpeg

  8. Interesting. I’ve gone the opposite way. Had a well sorted 899 and just bought a gen 3 s1000rr track bike. Be interesting to hear how you get on and what you think of them both against each other when you’ve had a chance to ride the 899.

I missed the power of the bigger bike but there’s no doubt the 899 is a cracking track bike.

  9. Yeah I’ve still got the s1000 so I’ll decide in Spain next month with the 899 if it’s too big a drop down. Although I’m pretty certain I’ve never even come close to using all 190+ ponies on the bmw. It’s more about power delivery I guess. Also, from what I’ve read the 899 is one of the better handling bikes on the market. I’d love to do a real person track review of each but i don’t get on too well with the camera.

  10. The 899 is a terrific bike, until you enter the long straight. 160 mph flat out at Mugello and Philip Island means you gotta try that much harder on the brakes and round the bends. This in itself is a great way to explore those skills that 200 RWHP tend to make irrelevant. You feel like a hero if you make it to Fast Group.
