My baby R has turned 9 years old, and clocked up 10,000 mile. I know it's not a high mileage for most, but, for me it is a small mile stone. This is the longest that I've owned a bike, most have been swapped within 2 years. I often think of trading it in for something newer. But, every time I ride it, I remember what a special bike it is. I bought it at 18 months old, from a contractor working on the Kings Cross / St Pancras station. He commuted on the bike every day to work, through the winter in London. It was in a bit of mess when I got it, under every panel there was an 1/2" of sand from the building site and general winter gunk everywhere. But, under all the muck and grime, I could see a nice bike. So, my 9 year old bike still puts a smile on my face .... and it's here to stay for a little longer
I also use to change my bikes nearly every year but it looks that my 999 will owned forever becasue always it has more & more & bigger & bigger problems i hope to that after the whole rebuild will eberything ok with her and i can enjoy few years like you done.Your bike looks very nice and i hope you will enjoy it in the future whitout any problems and accident.
Nice one. For me the 749/999 has the best dash of any bike - big white rev analogue rev counter with the other 'stuff' below, beautiful...
some say its just a lump of metal and plastic and it will never love you back.. miserable, hollow unfeeling, uncaring, self loathing barstewards... lovely machine x
That is just a delicious bike and you've grown attached to each other, the way it should be. Marriage made in heaven. If only Ducati made women, they'd go like stink, sound sumptuous, all of them are stunning, a few quid now and then but the rewards are worth it, still the best looking girl on the block !! ( no offence to any female ducatisi obviously  )
