It's a mark 1 isnt it? It should have the Marvic composite wheels. Still a very nice bike though, but those original wheels are virtually unobtainable now
Looks very tidy Simon, what are your plans ? refurb to standard or modify ? Loads of 'lost souls' on here fella who've all been down this path  A lot of us are still here but with considerably lighter wallets...
That's lovely. As Jonnymac has said, it should have Marvic wheels, and fully floating cast iron discs too. Those look like the standard SS discs. The gear lever should be silver, and the conical washers that fix the bodywork on should be black at the front just like the rear ones. You are a lucky boy to find such a clean low mileage SL. I wsh it were mine.
Yes just checked it out with Ducati its manufacture date was 24/3/1992 so an early MK1 , with the wrong wheels and frame colour ! It was first registered and declared new at first registartion on 05/03/1993 so obviusly lay aroubd somewhere for a year. Great news Si
Well its already had a few mods , so first is to find out what has been done to the engine. Frame will definitely be going back to white. Si
Nice SL, As a matter of interest where are the oil leaks from? My 900 ss has a leak from the rear port and Iv'e tried EVERYTHING to stop it. its now with Geoff at Baines's
Mine Had oil all over it but rear cylinder (seem to remember this was an issue with my 748R as well) and some of the valve inspection covers, hopefully I can fix it Si
Here's a guide to the various SS and Superlight specifications for each year , looks like you have a mk1 with the original Marvic wheels replaced by those from a mk2 900
Quick up date , engine is coming out tonight !, took the inlet manifolds off and it's had some porting work done  Cant wait to take the heads off to see what else lurks beneath. Si
Going to have a look at the carbys to see what Dynojet mains are fitted , then there off too my Ultrasonic tank for a clean , if any one local would like a free carb clean let me know. I've got a commercial tank thats big enought to put a bank of 4 carbs in . Si
