Hello All just a bit of advise... I have a 1993 900 Superlight. I am looking for a owners manual. Also, two bolts that hold the seat unit to the frame. The bolts are like the screen bolts, in that the nut is in a rubber washer. Thanks marco
First, apologies for thread hijack, but got a friend who can pick up an SL (92, I think) for about £3k. Not sure of history or how genuine it is, but what would immediately differentiate a genuine SL from a replica? thanks in anticipation, pete
Simplest way is to post a picture of it on here, wouldn't take long to identify it that way. If not its finding out what mk it is by the plate riveted to the top yoke, a 92 model will be a mk1. This model had the usual single seat, high level cans, cast iron fully floating discs, carbon hugger and front mudguard. Biggest difference would be the marvic mag wheels (only came on this model) There are many other differences between the years/models but that should cover it for now. As for the well nuts and seat bolts, ring your local dealer you'll be surprised how cheap these bits are and even cheaper than the eBay crap.
For the bolts i'd try the dealer. Ducati Manchester are very good, I use them, mail order service is very good
All SL's had a floating rear brake ( bar from pedal to caliper ) this only came on the very last 1997 SS model .....
Pete, the best thing you can do is speak to Ducati UK with the VIN number, they will tell you what that frame was built as originally. I bought two 851s from Holland last year and the details they had [given the bikes are 1990 and 1991] astounded me. They could tell me the build date, the model year [could be a 1990 bike is built late 1989 for instance], the original shipping destination, when the warrenty was started. For instance one of the bikes went to a dealer in Italy in 1991, but the warrenty was started until 10 years later. The other had it's warrenty start at the factory but was shipped to a dealer in Northampton- how if found it's way to Holland with an SP4 engine I don't know. Ducati are really helpful, they will tell you the details, I have the number somewhere, but I should call and ask
