Not if you want to go faster, stop quicker and go around corners more quickly. And fill up more often and probably have a sorer arse and more aching wrists. But hey, you can't have everything.
I have 999 and 900SSie. The 999 is far more comfortable arse wise as it's a wider and flatter seat. I put higher bars on both bikes but I think the standard bars are lower on the SS. The 4 valve motor is a lot smoother and the 999 chassis suspension is plusher making an easier ride. The SS is a bit of a boneshaker but has more low down power and engine braking than 999 Some 749 (S?) have 5 position footrests which is nice.
Surely the problem with owning both an SS and a 749/999 is having two bikes with a crippling riding position, that's why I'm thinking of buying a Yammy MT07, so I can actually do journeys that are more than an hour!
Don't find my 999 too bad now, I take turns moving weight from wrists to thighs. Did 190mls last week and could still walk unaided....
