I'm thinking of getting a set of Silmotor slip-ons for my 900ss. A possible complication is the fact that they are listed as 888/851 items. I don't imagine the cans vary much between models, it is the link-pipe situation that is a concern. I've contacted the supplier but thought I might speed things up on here. So... 1) does anyone know if the silmotor slip-ons are simply cans that require a separate link-pipe, or is it integral? 2) if the link-pipe is integral, what is its diameter/what is the diameter of the standard 900ss link-pipes? also, if it is not integral, what diameter is the can inlet? TIA Stu
Pylwagl, Sorry I have no experience of this but try this or search her or ducati.ms SilMoto High Pipes on a Carbed 900SS?? - Ducati.ms - The Ultimate Ducati Forum Come on peeps it's a very dissapointing when no one replies. Cheers Gaz
I can't answer the question regards diameters.............but why change the actual exhaust system for the sake of it unless loads of mods have been done to the engine......just open the airbox, fit Dynojet and open zorst cans....
I am 99.9% sure they are the exact same sizes (my superlight pipes were advertised as being off an 851)
Hi, I've got the Sil Moto carbon fibre, hi level, silencers ( ? ) on my 900SS. When I bought them they were listed as being for Supersport, 750/900 '92-'98. Sil part number SM06-7C. There's no mention of 888/851 on the paperwork.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier but no in general 900 SS and 851/888 tailpipes are not interchangeable unless you change the whole system (less down pipes of course) Plus you would have to change the tailpipe hangers. i always look at the angle of the smaller diameter joining pipe on the tail baffle as the SS type are more angled inboard than Monster/851.
I have open air box/Dynojet setup and cored standard cans, so the motor is quite free-breathing already. I like the look of high level cans and I know the silmotor stuff sounds/looks great. Saw a set of slip-ons at a good price which got me thinking...
Thanks for all the info guys. There looked to be a good deal on the (851) silmotors, and they do look lovely - which got me thinking. I know there are loads of options for high level cans on the 900s, (including making your own cans etc) but I may go back to saving a little longer and getting 900 specific silmotors
If you're interested in some high level sil motors Pylwagl a mate of mine is looking at selling a set that were on his '97 superlight. They're virtually brand new as he's not ridden the bike much... Ian.
Pylwagl, I bought sil moto high level cans for my 900sl from these www.daniele-moto.de Just looked at the website and they are still selling the same cans (part number S01031212R/L). I did have a bit of trouble getting the hanger brackets to line up, but other than that, they are OK. I'd have a look at Gillan 900's mates first, might save yourself a few quid. Rich

I bought a set of high level carbon SMs for my 900 years ago, after mucho lusting. I was disappointed with the fit and regretted not sending them back for another set (forget where I got them from). The link pipes had noticably different shapes, and the brackets didn't line up with the frame mounting holes when the pipes were fully seated in the headers. I had to back them out a bit to line up the brackets, which at least went some way to sorting the first problem as it provided a bit of play to get the ends at the same height. But then they were wobbly so I used some exhaust putty, and now I can't get the left one off the feckin header. I hope quality control has improved since then. It's cold outside today, so here's a gratuitous pic of the pipes on me bike to warm all yer SS cockles...
Thought I would add my own info. Bought my SILs from Kaemna Ducati in Germany, expensive but well worth it. They sound awesome ( Better than Termis IMHO, heard both side by side ) and not had any issues with the quality. I can provide any measurements as bikes in bits should they still be required. Ian
Rob the pipes probably aren't for sale still, since the seller changed his mind when I was looking. I ended up buying a set of 900ss specific high level Silmotos and have to say they are fab (but pricey), except for the mounting brackets. No amount of juggling and loosening could persuade it to work with the std brackets so I got some made up in the end. Currently looks like this, single seat next..
I too bought some SM's brackets needed some modding but sound amazing with baffles out, mono seat just finishes it off.
