My 900ss has now done just over 38k, apart from the usual oil change and belts replacement (which is now due) is there anything else I should be thinking about at this sort of mileage? I was just reading another post about belts doubling in price which is a worry..
Check the belt thread.........answers may be on their way........... But apart from the basic servicing, you should establish when the valves shimming was last checked......plus fuel filter, air filter, plugs etc etc..... ....then move onto checking the 'cycle' parts and think on your feet...... Wheel bearings, sprocket carrier bearings, headstock bearings, hoses, swingarm bearings, cush drive bushes.........I'll stop there.....
Take the fuel filler off (tiny grub screws) and you will be amazed at the amount of rust and crap in the fuel tank. The net filter in the tank was 90 percent blocked. But this is after 20 years and a lot more miles.
