Hi Anyone removed there rear huger? Have been mulling it over but worried about getting crap etc on shock etc. Thought if I did remove it I could get a shock sock to cover the spring? Any thoughts peoples? Cheers
I've run my streetfightered SSie without a hugger for years with no problem, the shock hasn't suffered but I don't ride it in the wet much.
binned it, horrd plastic thing just dont ride in the wet ,and if i do i just wash it off when i get home
Cheers guys, looked for a way to cut it down, but think from what you are saying, just removing it is best. I guess that way I have it as stock to put back on if needed.
The only thing is the chainguard is integral with the mudguard, I run my bike without chainguard and it's illegal with pillion accommodation to do so. I have pillion seat and pegs but have never been pulled up for it. Don't know if its required for MOT.
you do need some sort of chain guard for a mot if you have pillion but if you remove the rear pegs then you do not have to have
Cheers dudes, great advice!, rear foot rests are not on bike as Termi's high up so may be ok. Bike in for MOT on Saturday so perhaps I will leave it on for the test and remove it afterwards. Forgot about chain guard being part of it :-(
When I replaced the original 170 rear tyre with a 180 it was OK (just). The second tyre replacement, still Dunlop but a Qualifier II would not fit without rubbing as it was just a tad wider. So the hugger had to come off. Since then I have done a couple of long journeys in Europe, the last culminating in 3 1/2 hours in torrential rain. No ill effects whatsoever. I might make up a small alloy stone guard and have now given up looking for an aftermarket one. It got through its last MoT without the chain guard.
