900SS rear set replacements

  1. Hi all, has anyone fitted any aftermarket rear sets to their 900ss's? I've a carby model and have just had my bars dropped by Geoff @ Baines while he was doing some work on the old girl and it REALLY makes a big difference. I'm now thinking of some adjustable rear sets to help enhance this and wondered if anyone had any hints and tips. Oh dear the modification path to ruin....

  2. I've recently put a set of Woodcraft rear sets on my SS, which go up & back about 1" which suits me fine. The quality of the Woodcraft kit is brilliant in my opinion.

When I started looking there were not many options about for the older carby SS's, there are some "racing" ones that appear on evil bay once in awhile.

Now that CycleCat have been reserected their rear sets for the carby SS's are about the only ones I've found that are adjustable, but they are pricey. The other thing is you will lose the rear brake switch so you'll need to put in a banjo bolt pressure switch to light up the tail light.

  3. Thanks chap that's most helpful - very much appreciated. I like the look of the Cyclecat ones (never heard of them before to be honest) but indeed a tad pricey. The Woodcraft look like a reasonable bet and if they are recommended then might plump for a set of these.

  4. I had a set of woodcraft ones on my SS many moons ago, very comfortable and work well. Only replaced them when I managed to get a set of Ducati Performance ones, which I found to be better, more adjustable and in my opinion nicer looking, but they are hard to get hold of these days. You won't go far wrong though with the woodcraft ones though...
