Not sure if this has been covered, but.... I'm converting a 750 Monster (99) to a 900 and have fitted the new engine. I will post up pics under a new thread, but would like a bit of help for now! Can anyone tell me the difference in size between the 750 carb inlets band the 900 version. I just want to work out if I can modify the 750 ones or if I need a new set of 900 ones... I have attached a picture, so everyone knows what I'm talking about. If someone out there has a set of 900 ones that they are able to measure, then please just give me a size and where you measured it from (pic might help). I've got access to a machine shop, so hoping I can just machine up some spacers. Cheers
Sorry can't give you the dimensions as I don't have the 900 versions anymore but I did have a pair of both 600 (same as 750?) and 900. When you mention spacers I assume you are asking about the length? (presumably the 900 are different as the cylinder is longer which would affect length/angle?) but consider also that the 900 have a larger bore at the head end of the tube so you would need to machine that out and there is a curve in the tube so not sure how that would work? Maybe easier to find some 900 intakes...
I believe the differences are subtle, because they appear to be nearly right, but I think you are spot on with the number of subtleties... If it was just length, then I could add a spacer. Given the lack of response, I thought it best to buy a 900 set off eBay... Turns out the chap who sold me the engine also had a set of intakes... Funny that! Thanks for you input.
