Can anyone tell me what model this model was fitted on from new, want to put it on my 1994 916 Strada but unsure of origin. SHOWA GD05-70, cheers Graham
Unless you are after originality, bin it. Get an ohlnins, maxton WP or nitron replacement shock set up for your weight etc.
Graham, OEM for the 916/748s were GD05200702 or GD05200750 (or Ohlins DU3420) they all had 71 mm stroke. But unless you know what the spring rate is you may be fitting something that is completely wrong even if it does fit. Give Ktech or another Showa service centre a call, they may be able to answer your question.
my ohlins is a du143 on my 748 same as 916 996 998 not sure bout this du4320 maybe a new code? but keep eye out for the du143 aswell
i had my shock and forks overhauled/customized at brooke suspension (great guys) and they told me when i first inquired that there wasn't alot they could do to the showa which is why i got the ohlins
