Hi all I own a 916 Biposto and don't have a belly pan like the 996 panels do. Sorry if it's been discussed before! Would 996 panels fit my 916? Would 916 panels fit 996 too? I imagine the belly pan was designed to accommodate something, maybe wider panels too? Just interested to know more, I think my knowledge is quite limited considering I've owned my 916 for 5 years!
All 748-9** panels will fit your bike. The slab sided panels were fitted to 748E's and 748R's along with the 998. Even 998S panels will fit if you have the separate bellypan. I have 998S panels on my 748SPS. It sounds like you might have a set on non standard panels possibly.
Do later panels fit earlier bikes? I thought there was a slightly different side where the vent is because of a relocated rectifier or fuse box or something
748-9*6 panels do not fit the 998 because of the coil location. The coils stop the panels fitting closely against the side of the bike. I have seen a set of early panels where someone cut out that area but it looks pretty ugly from my point of view. There is no difference in the cooling attributes it would seem, either set of both panel types allow pretty much the same common running temperature.
