First big outing on it today. It's standard at the moment until the Full Termi gets fitted on the 7th July. The standard exhaust looks shite, as they all do, but sounds well especially with the autoblipper. First thoughts whilst running in. . . I've had it in Race mode and the throttle response is sharp and power delivery is smooth. It pulls well off the bottom, front end lifts no problem, it has 2 further steps in power which all these euro 4 wanky bikes seem to. Hopefully the full Termi and race map will sort that out, I am told its night and day once the Termi and up map goes on. The Ohlins front and a rear is sublime and once set up for me at TW Suspension will be even better. It doesn't miss a line, on the firm side with very little fork dive, super composed in every situation. Brakes are mega, as you would expect with Brembo mono blocs and Brembo radial master. The riding position is focussed, I've got the race seat on it, 20mm lower so you sit in it, very near the tank, it's comfortable for all day riding. At first I missed the outright brutish power of the KTM 1290 SDR, I really did, and you can't compare these bikes, they are so different. But where I do most of my riding the Hyper wins, I can go so much faster on this on the back lanes. However, when my endorsements come off my licence next year, I will be getting another SDR, not to replace, but to go with this, for me that's the perfect garage
