If I swapped a 944 ST2 unit for my existing 900, am I likely to notice *much* of a difference in power? Assuming it's even possible as a straight swap.
Not a lot in it perfomance wise but big job getting the rad and header tank etc to fit. Pablo on here put a ST3 motor in half faired SS and did tidy job.
It's an awful lot work. You can use the barrels from an ST2 too on the original bottom end, so no water jacket as an alternative. Requires work but gives 944 capacity and different cams in the heads. There's postings on Ducati up North regarding it.
For the ST2 944 barrel mod, not too much in performance, but more torque. To be honest, it feels exactly like the 900, there's just more of it. You think you are doing 70, look at the speedo, its 80.
