No they wont be - but youve got a new bike so you wont have to worry until the MOT is up then just simply reconnect a set of indicators to the bike when it goes in for mot. I do that with my bikes....got a stock number plate for it with a cheap shit set of indicators bolted to that (im assuming your going to be running some sort of small plate - a 9x7 or something like that) and take it in...
There's a minimum-separation distance. Wider at front than rear - sorry haven't got the numbers to hand. Google will know...
They fail MOT primarily on the indicator and light sharing the same lense. It’s classed as interfering with a separate signal..... think of following a car when they put the indicators on and the tail lights flash due to a bad earth. Same reasoning. They also fail to meet the use and construction laws on distance from centre line and for the above mot failure reasoning as well. You may not need to worry about the MOT for a while, but the latter issues are law and can be pulled up by your friendly traffic officer if they know their stuff.
As above - found out the hard way as a few years back when they changed it - took mine in the week after....as i said - just rig up someting in a few years for the day, for the MOT.... Interestingly a couple of years back i was chatting with the MOT guy about it and he said, and i quote.... "If the right hand part of the light, went off [or which ever side] , and then the indicator came on...id be happy with that.... Since then ive always looked for integrated lights that do that - but not found any yet..
I nearly put one of these integrated units on my 1098S years ago, until the legality of it stopped me. TBH, it's not like the indicators on Ducatis are the largest things in the world and I'm not sure how much it would have 'tidied' up the rear end anyway. I guess I was just looking to do something to the bike at the time.
That's the thing for me. Not so much the legality of them, I just don't think they look or work that well. Indication is poor and not that obvious. If you're doing a right, and you get tail ended because "they didn't see you indicate", then you're hurt, the bikes wrecked and the insurance washes their hands of the claim...
I think they look pretty good and have just done mine - had one on my 1098 and Panigale and never had any issues
Mine comes from Germany (italo-shop) on Wednesday and I will be throwing it on. Seems pretty straight forward
