959 959 - Exhaust Valve/servo

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Wasey, Sep 2, 2022.

  1. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue, was at Snetterton few weeks ago and had no power in top half of rev range. Sadly, couldnt figure it out on the day after checking airbox and few other bits.

Turns out, my exhaust valve was sealed shut. I tested by removing the cable and opening manually, all good except the engine management light now on. Ordered the eliminator, fitting it htis weekend and booked in for Tuesday to get codes reset and tested for anything else.

Just got me thinking, what is the point of the valve exactly?

Seems loads of people put the eliminator on and remove it all but can see how to remove the valve other then spot weld it open, or drill it out?

  2. The EXBV is there to get the bike through noise emission tests. They have been problematic on every bike they have been fitted to and require regular maintenance with the likes of Copper Slip grease to keep them free. By default a working EXBV will be held in the fully wide open position by the spring on the cable pulley. With the eliminator in place you can remove both the cables and the motor. Some, lock wire the pulley for extra piece of mind.
