Wondering if i should go 180 or 190 on the rear of the 996. It's got a 180/55 on there just now which came with the bike when I got it last year. Going for 2CTs or Rosso 11s. Read as much on here as I can but no further forward. I take it steady on the roads but turn it up occasionally... No track days. Thinking ill stick to 190/50 standard but any advice would be appreciated as always. Cheers folks.
2000 model. Standard wheel but no idea what the rim size is. Need to look at a book lol. Manual says 190/50. Put a 180 on my Mille when I had & it turned a bit better.
916 came with a 190 as standard, but I think nearly all subsequent fitments on mine were 180. Don't know if extra stomp from 996 means a 190 is a better bet. Doubt you can get to the edge of it on the road. Imagine 180 is perfectly adequate and turns faster.
Wasnt it fitted for willy waving purposes? Cant have the bigger bro having same as his tiddly sibling
I suspect that there is a lot in what you say. Marketing drives all. You probably don't need a 190 to master 100-odd RWBHP
So, best to go for 180/55 not 180/50 ? Did buy a hugger for it but it rubs on the current 180/55. Bummer !!
standard was 190 but i placed a 180 as well on my 916 or 998. it turned in a bit better and plenty of grip. even on the track. henk!!!
I had a 190 on my 916 and found the handling to be good. Changed to a 180 and found the responsiveness to direction changes a lot better and no detectable difference in the level of grip. IMHO probably one of the better changes I've made
748 came as standard with 180 . 916 / 996 came with 190 , well at least my 916 & foggy rep did ... Soon changed to 180 & av'nt looked back ...
Ok , 180/55 it is then .. Im Considering Avon UltraSports but probably go for Pirelli Rosso 2s. Thanks for the feedback guys : )
