I am moving overseas with my job in a few months and boring legislation means I can’t take my bikes with me so my 996 is up for sale. It is a 1999 model (registered in 2000) and has undergone a full restoration about 2 years ago. The frame and wheels have been painted (better than powder coating) by DW Auto who are on the same industrial estate as Luigi Moto and it's who he uses for frames as they have worked together to get the colour right. The engine was taken out and sent to Luigi Moto but because it had been sat in oil, it had screwed up the crankshaft journal. It was actually easier to find a complete engine than it was a new crankshaft, so it was taken to Luigi for him to give it the once over and the engine was dropped that in. The valve clearances were also done at this point too. The engine only had 8k miles on it and has been fully registered with the frame number with DVLA. It has done approximately 500-600 miles since this rebuild. The forks and shock were rebuilt by Mark at MH Racing. The tank was bought new last year (£1000 alone), the nose and mono seat unit were resprayed (due to them being over polished ). Just 2 months ago I spent £1,000 at Steve Jordan’s in Surrey where he did a full service including belts (original Ducati) new regulator rectifier, coolant, oils, filters, new starter motor and did a clutch inspection which was all found to be fine. It has: 50mm termi system Samco hoses Carbon front mudguard Carbon rear hugger Braided brake lines Exact start cables Paddock stand Corbin comfort seat (plus original) It went through its MOT about a month ago with no advisories and I also had them change the brake and clutch fluid too. I have a stack of history paperwork too. I have now handed my 996 to Ray Petty Meccanica (the London Ducati Specialist) who is selling on my behalf due to me impending move to India. I’ve since spent more money getting to a level which Ray was happy to sell at. This was essentially changing some non standard bolts and a few clips to make it just right.
already happy with the bike and wish you luck selling it. I'm out of touch price-wise but can already see it's a better buy than the few i've just looked at declaring nowhere near as much money and work lavished on them so recently.
Yep I can attest that this is a VERY nice example. Its a cracking deal I think at that price. Wish you'd spoken to me a couple of weeks ago... ♂️
Sorry dude! I have been really undivided and was trying to work out a practical way of keeping it but in reality, the best thing all round is to sell it….and probably buy another one when I get back for more money…..I never win!
lol it seems I don't either sorry to see her go... but then you can come and buy mine off me when you return ;-)
For some reason I can not work out how to send a private message. Could you drop me an IM, I am interested in coming to see it tomorrow if poss. Rich
You won't be able to send private messages until you've been here while and posted enough. @900theginge will have contact you
Thanks, it was the legends at DW Automotive in Bristol. Just around the corner from Luigi Moto so he does a lot of Ducati stuff. I’d highly recommend.
