996 Full Bolt Kit

  1. Any supplier recommendations for bolt kit for 996SPS ?

  2. Either pro bolt (expensive) or race fastners, but you will probably have to measure each bolt with them, I used both companies when doing my track bike project.

  4. not purposely being a Devil's Advocado Andy, but have you got a "like-for-like" comparison as the more dedicated companies like racebolt, pro-bolt don't seem to have anything basic or comparable to Borgo's suggestion by price?

I've used kayfast, sometimes Kay Fasteners for over 15 years and their A2 stainless kits probably work out around the same as the "A2stainless" supplier above except they don't do motorcycle kits yet so you would have to sort out all the lengths.

  5. No offence taken, just my gut reaction. I’ve been around this buoy for many years and the old adage ‘you only get what you pay for’ rings true in the majority of cases. Buy cheap raw materials, you produce a poor quality product. I’m not a fan of stainless steel because, broadly speaking, the corrosion resistant materials you alloy with the steel, adversely affect the mechanical properties. It’s all a trade off and it’s all about cost. Another adage that’s popped into my mind, ‘buy cheap, buy twice’ :D Andy

  7. Fair enough Andy, but must add - all my stainless bolts, screws and fixings over many years have been "buy once" so far. ;)
It would be great if we could come up with a comparison for future reference, but i'm guessing the true specialist fixing kits will be at least 3 to 4 times the price of A2 stainless, and someone will come along shortly and say "and the rest!"
Each to their own, Racecars i was involved with wanted for nothing but then they were racing. :upyeah:

  8. Totally agree, if it's a true special or safety involved then perfect excuse to give the bike a treat.

  9. Well it's my old gsxr k4 track bike mate so not that special but I love fiddling with it :p
