  1. image.jpg Ok lads & lasses , what do ye's think about this bike . I was thinking of having a look at it but I don't think it all adds up , he say it's a 1999 996 ( 996 part is ok ) but it has the 5 spoke wheels and a silver frame ( should they not be 3 spoke with gold frame for that year ) and the forks should be gold should thay not and the bolts and 996 decal on the side don't look right and the Ducati on the tank is in black

  2. 5 spokes came in 2000.

  4. What model is it claimed it is? The air box is normally body colour on the standard bike and I didn't think it had an Ohlins steering damper.

  5. And in my first picture it has a gold headlight bucket , should that not be silver ?

  6. Well the head light bracket is the correct gold colour, but the forks should be gold nitrated, stg damper is standard but with a Öhlins sticker. The decals on the tank are 2001 996r ? Decals and the ones on the fairing look like they are eBay items... Could be a parts bin bike as there seems to be lots going on.. 50 mm system or adaptor fitted as well.

  7. It doesn't say what model just has 996 , no its not an ohlins . yeah I don't mind the carbon but i'm thinking it could have been in a crash .

  8. Exactly what I'm thinking but should the headlight bucket not be silver like the frame and did the silver frame with 5 spoke wheels not come out in 2000 +

  9. I guess as we are all picking up so many issues, maybe it's not the bike to look at for too long.. There will be a better model around the corner so to say

  10. Hi Dave, this is the one off DoneDeal right...? Can't comment on that one but there is another for sale in Kildare that I enquired about before I bought my 1098s. Ad seems to be gone now but I have the sellers contact details if you want them? It's a 2002 996 in yellow that was up for €5200 and the guy seemed quite genuine and sound. He sent me several hi res photos that I can forward if you want....

  11. Cheers Anto but that's now sold , I wouldn't be mad on a yellow one but I probably would have taken it and got it resprayed red

  12. Shame, it did look pretty good:

Plenty more out there though I'm sure....

  13. Nice ..... rub it in Anto :) :) seen it up on donedeal but I had to decide on selling my Honda sp1 so went ahead and sold it only 2 days on donedeal and sure the 996 was sold :(

  14. Sorry :-(

  15. only joking :):):)

  16. Me too..... [emoji6]

  17. Personally I would avoid, the headlamp bucket should have been gold in that year but not the frame. The tank may just have stickers on it like the steering damper and if it was a genuine silver framed bike any stickers on the tank would be silver and not black. Decals look wrong on the fairing sides.

1999 748's used to have 40mm front calipers and I would assume 996's should maybe have been the same but wouldn't swear to that.

I'd say it's had an accident and been repaired possibly even a legitimate Cat C.

  18. Looks ok to me but seller should be honest if its been dropped or crashed but best to double check for yourself.Just adjust the price you offer and also take into account a respray for fuel tank and side fairings with the right decals and respray for headlight fairing.

I guess it depends what your after. This is not one for the collectors as its not bog standard but if you are purchasing to ride id be more interested in service history.Other than that some decent extras on that compared to standard.Wheels, airbox seat unit, termis and carbon airtubes.

Could be a nice bike with a little bit of work.

  19. It does look like a nice bike and it has some nice extras that I would end up putting on and I do wanna clean something up and put some money into it and probably get a full respray and it only has 11000 on the clock
