996 Rocker Problem

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Matt-996, Apr 11, 2016.

  1. Hi,
Could anyone tell me where I can get a set of rockers for a 996 and all the associated gaskets and o rings to complete the job? as mine have flaked, I'm probably going to need a shim kit as well.
Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
Also would it hurt if I left the flaking rockers as they are?
    Thanks
    Matt

  2. Leaving the flaking rockers will damage your cams resulting in more expense, ducati rockers are aprox £125 each so if you have a few that need replacing it might be worth contacting Newman Engineering, they can replate ( they weld a harder surface and re-grind ) them at a cost of aprox £35 each.

  3. I thought that I would need to replace them (just hoping I wouldn't have to) I am going to pull the cams later and see how many are damaged, but with the amount of flaking in the oil it looks like a few have gone.
    Thanks for the reply.
I dont suppose you have a contact number for newman engineering?

  4. I bought 2 off a member on here back in November for a very reasonable price. Pull them out and see which ones and how many you need and somebody may have some.

  5. Newman cams thats a contact for the records, rocker refacing for £35, any one using their rockers and how do they last compared to Ducati ones?
I dont currently need any fingers crossed as all fine last year when belts and shims serviced, all due again next year or so though.:grimacing:
