996 996 Sps Brake Lines

  1. Hi everyone,
Just a quick post about aftermarket brake lines for my 01/996, I have the standard braided ones fitted to both front and rear with the standard Gold line Brembo calipers too.
My question is are there anything to be gained by upgrading the lines to aftermarket ones (Goodridge ,Hel Etc...)?
Anyone done this and had better results than the standard ones?

  2. The only advantage to allegedly be gained would be to use two separate brake lines to the calipers. This is supposed to give better feel to the brakes and is a requirement I believe for road racing scrutineering purposes. Most aftermarket kits use two separate lines instead of the T shaped stock Ducati line. I have a set of two single HEL lines on my 748R but as I have P4/34 calipers I cannot say whether they are actually an improvement over a stock set-up as I have never used a stock set-up on this bike.

Most single lines do have 90 degree angled union fittings at the master cylinder end and these can get in the way of the instruments, they do a bit on mine obscuring the water temp. gauge slightly.

  3. Prob with dual lines on the 996 is making it all fit. The t junction design is tidier. I think as long as the join is above bottom yoke it will pass scrutineering. .
