996sps To Hungaroring

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Ash34, Jul 17, 2016.

  1. I'm living in Budapest for work reasons at the moment and the Hungaroring is about 30 mins drive away.

So I'm going to trailer my 996SPS track bike down here in a few days and spend my free time at the track whenever I can.

Trackdays here are called Moto Open Days and cost the equivalent of about £50 [emoji3]

I'll post updates on the road trip down and bike related fun with the Hungarians.

  3. It's ready to go. Will spend Sunday packing all the tools and other bike related bits.

  4. Enjoy :) I was looking at the track recently, it looks really good.

  5. So I got the bike, kit, tools and other stuff for my apartment ready on Sunday afternoon.

Then after seeing the reports of chaos in Dover I decided to leave 4 hours early, which was midnight.

Arrived at Dover and there were no queues at all. At the passport booths there were only 2 cars in front of me. Was put on the 2.20am crossing.

Left Calais at about 5am and got to Passau at 8pm. An early night at a hotel and today was a breeze going through Austria but they have speed cameras everywhere.

Arrived at the track I'm keeping the bike at around 3pm and unloaded everything. It's now tucked up for the night in its new home.

  6. Well I'm not only doing Trackdays down here in Hungary, I've joined the Hungarian 1000cc open championship.

First race was terrible because the gearing was way too tall for the circuit and the suspension setup was shockingly bad (geddit?) so I came 8th.

But after many days practice on slicks, 14tooth front and 38tooth rear sprockets I managed 3rd place in my second race.

Next round is the last one of the season and I'm not confident of doing so well as it will be a new circuit to me (PanoniaRing) but I'm going to enjoy it all the same.
