Hello Gents Recently tested the cooling fans using ecu communicator discovered the left fan No1 as you sit on the bike can be activated but the No2 fan will not activate and run Fan runs with 12v supply What activates No2 fan under normal use Many thanks Peter
Both fans are activated by the ECU providing an earth. The LH fan No.1 by ECU Body connector pin 11 and the RH fan No.2 by body connector pin 14.
If the test function of your diagnostic software allows direct input of PID codes then you can manually input a numeric code to activate functions. Unfortunately I do not know the actual PID to activate fans. If you use software from the author of JPDiag then JP identified these codes and embedded them in the software. If your software does allow manual PID input then a bit of Google work on OBD PID codes may identify the code for fan 2. JPDiag does allow direct input of PIDs.
Test it in practice! It’s singing in my head that they are activated with different temp but not 100% sure.
Yep I think 98 and 102° for the second or there abouts. @chrisw changed mine son they came on a bit sooner.
If you are using JPDiag then go to the Tests page. There is a white box saying More Tests. Click on it to expand the list. There are two additional tests for the Fans, relay 1 and relay 2. To run the test press the green On button. To stop press the Off button. The PIDs appear to be 11 and 12.
