Here’s my new to me 998 bip. has the single seat ducati unit, proper subframe and a carbon air box. plus all
the original parts, screen cans etc.

not one for the purist but i like it, while i wait for my 888 to be recommissioned, which will also be modified.

should be with me on Friday. cannot wait! now i just need one of those period Arai Ducati lids that been tempting me for a few years now.

i think i’ll swap those rearsets out for
    some titanium or standard.

    all the best

  2. Is that a 748R seat unit?

  3. it could be i guess, it has that carbon bit that flows from the air box to the back. i’ll take a picture of the underside on friday.

  4. Those rearsets look like DP ones or similar.
I changed my standard ones for DP, I found them so much better - probably the best mod I have done.

  7. Do you want to sell those rearsets in this photo?

  8. i might do Paul, i’ll have a proper ride on friday weather permitting to see if i need to change them. any idea what they are? thanks

  9. They are either DP or a copy. They adjust on a cam to get ideal position.

If the seat unit has any carbon fibre in it it’s not a 748r one. The black bit on them is just paint.

  10. Nice looking 998. Rearsets look like the dp ones but as said maybe a copy. What are these period arai ducati lids you speak of. Do you have a pic?

  11. Gorgeous and looking forward to seeing the triple eight when that lands.

  12. Gorgeous bike and congratulations on the acquisition
If you plan to ride the bike I'd definitely keep those rear sets. The stock rear sets tried to kill me once many moons ago. They're fine for tootling to the coffee shop, but for more enthusiastic riding the standard pegs are deadly slippery

  13. thanks very much and yes i intend to explore the limits of its performance envelope. i remember seeing one 20 years ago in Brighton and thinking oooo that’s a beauty i need one. i’ve been patient

thanks! no markings. but they look decent enough.

small paint correction and some quick ceramic.

it’s all there just needs smartening up. been checked over and full service belts oil fluids at cambridge ducati.

man what a looker. i’ll pick up an R at some point in my future after the v4r which is drawing me in… like a tractor beam.

she’s in the shed on the optimate.

    so pleased.

    cheers all!

  17. If your looking to get standard rearsets I have a standard set from an R we could do a deal if interested

  18. thanks Dave, was it a swap or are you interested in selling them?

she’s a slow cranker so i think the exact-start lead upgrade and a battery upgrade is in order. it’s been in the optimate for 24 hours.

i did this on my RSV and it cranks like it’s on speed.

has anyone fitted these. i might even try the halfords 9in car leads, just out of interest.

  19. My setup was, upgraded starter leads, a Diavel / Panigale or other mosfet R&R and a Shorai lithium battery. Cranked over the engine and started just like a Jap IL4 every time.
Loads of useful threads on here about this mod.
