I’ve just looked at a 998R was advertised 6k mls on clock. Got there and it was 11k km, it’s an Italian import. Bike looks mint but he wants top dollar at a smidge below £30k. Is an Italian import worth less than a UK bike? Cheers
They all come from Italy anyway. I wouldn't have thought the value would be much less, unless it needs import Duties or Vat paying etc.
Yes that's very naughty advertising it like that, when the speedometer clocks are reading in Km's they should state so.We all know why they do it, for me i really like the official imports from the factory....just that more desirable for me personally.
If (say) 50% think it’s worth less as an import, your investment returns are significantly less likely to be realised come sale time. If you are buying to ride then the bike is well over priced imho.
UK models only....I just like to add that i've been monitoring these models for sometime now, the dealers are pricing them at the £30k mark with sales achieved after a long period.
There were quite a few of non official imports of 998r back in the day, they were cheaper than the officially imported bikes to buy. If I was buying with the intention of just having it sit in a collection I would want a UK official bike. To use and ride reasonably regularly an import wouldn't be a big deal but I would want it in UK spec re clocks etc. Each to their own how we see imports V official bikes. The value of these low mileage bikes is in the fact they are low mileage. For me a 998r is a 998r as long as its the right spec. There are so few of these bikes still being used on the road these days about a dozen, the majority are sorn. I've used mine lightly this year post recommission after years of it being parked up, but, it does have 28k miles on the clock so keeping the mileage down isn't an issue. Its only worth 3 and sixpence anyway, like all old high mileage Ducatis
That’s what I thought so didn’t buy it. They got a UK bike a week later wanted £32k I bought it but not for that price I must stress!
