It’s come to this! I’m selling my 998s mono which I’ve owned for two years. She’s a 2002 model and done 18,888 miles. She has: · 12months MOT to 15/07/16 · Service history · 2 keys and original owner’s manual · 50mm Termi’s · Full carbon bodywork & fairing · Slipper clutch · I’ve just fitted a new Yuasa battery · 14 tooth front sprocket on her so she behaves herself in slow traffic · She’s shod in sticky Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa Pros and she sticks to the road like glue I’m including as seen in the picture… · a set of new Exactfit CAM belts with 2x M8 lock nuts and a cam wheel holding tool (the belts will need changing soon) · a spare temperature gauge · spare temperature gauge · left & right original foot rests · suede leather seat cover She will also come with a genuine 998 workshop manual – these are getting harder to find of these days! I will also throw in a paddock stand and adaptor set for an Abba Skylift (which I keep her on and you can see in one of the pictures). Why am I selling? I’ve only ridden her for 300 miles since last year’s MOT! She’s a bit of a long reach for my little short arms, so I struggle with her size. I’m asking £6,750 for her... Sorry - it's not allowing me to add all my pictures! I added about six piccies but the page isn't allowing me to save them all!!! Feel free to text or call me on 07787 800 314 View attachment 52918 I've also got a full plastic fairing set with under tray with a full new set of DZus that I am selling. I will include this for an extra £650
I'm sorry! I'm afraid I bought it like that! that's why I got hold of a full replacement fairing set - I was planning to get the original fairing to a carbon repair specialist and have it filled and repainted but I haven't got round to it yet. I've got a full spare red fairing set I'm selling as well if you are interested in the bike...
Right, can we all get over the bloody crash bungs please?! They weren't my idea! I bought the bike with the bloody things on. So I bought a second replacement fairing and I was planning to remove the carbon fairing with the bloody crash bungs on and get the holes repaired - then put the original carbon fairing back on WITHOUT the bloody crash bungs. RIGHT. So I haven't got around to doing that yet. But the bike still comes with a bloody one-piece authentic carbon fairing on her - that's the fairing you can see in the picture. If you want the bike you buy her with the original carbon fairing and get the holes repaired by a carbon specialist - and while your doing that, you can put on the second fairing I've got for the bike (which is an excellent quality red set) if you would like to purchase that from me as well. Now please all stop going on about the bloody crash bungs! GRRRR!!!
My 2002 998s monoposto is original and has a completely different fairing (without the crash bungs!). Mine splits at the belly pan and has a row of duz fixings. The original owner purchased a naturally coloured carbon belly pan. Is this is an after market fairing or perhaps a special? Did Ducati supply different fairing options?
The 998 Bip came with conventional side panels that were a four piece set and joined at the bottom, the same as a 748E at the time. The 998S had a five piece set in plastic and also had a bellypan. The 998R had the same only in carbon for the panels and the side panels were one piece, a three piece set.
I've had this conversation before on another thread. I got the bike with the full one piece per side carbon fairing. So perhaps a previous owner put it on. Anyway, it's on the bike. The bike has not been dropped or tracked....and the extra fairing set I have for it consists of upper and lower pieces for each side and a deep sump belly pan - all in A1 condition and finished in the proper colour - and a full set of new DZus
Red, my bike was never a Biposto. It came as a Mono from the factory as that's what's on the log book. Does that shed any light on it being a single piece-per-side carbon fairing?... the tailpiece and cockpit fairings are also carbon
I rode a 998S mono when I first looked at buying a 998, which I later did and the mono is no different. It has plastic side panels bolted in the centre and an open bellypan. The screen snapshot below shows what the original looked like, this is for an 998S FE (mono) but the 998S was the same . The bellypan was open and not the RS racestyle one. Your fairing side panels either aftermarket or possibly from a 998R, the bellypan on the R model was the same as the 998S and was made in carbon.
