Just about to do valve clearances on my 998 for the first time and looking in the book it lists "standard value" and "max value". I take it that for normal servicing checks that "standard value" is the one to work to. Any hints/tips always welcome.
Standard will be the assembly tolerances. Max will be service tolerances. I'd see where they are before thinking about changing. Even service tolerances are fairly tight for a road engine with closing springs
Thanks Neil, checked them all and the closers are pretty loose, all between .31 and .35. I've got new half rings to put in but I don't think they will be enough to get within tolerance.
