999 Biposto what rider weight is it setup for standard?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by thelimey, Aug 20, 2013.

  1. I have just bought a 999 Biposto and would like to get the suspension setup for me I weigh 81kgs with kit. I need to check what spring rates are on my bike but does anyone know what rider weight the bike is setup for as standard from the factory?

    Thanks

  2. I wouldnt have the slightest idea what the weight set up would be.

However...............go to a suspension specialist. They will set the bike up for you. You'll learn about dynamic / static sag. Money well spent, its the way to go, but only if the set up ppl are recommended. If you tell folk where abouts you are they may be able to point you in the right direction.

  4. Fairly sure all 916/996 etc. had 10n front springs as standard, which are very firm. I weigh around 7kg more than you and swapped the front springs for 9.5n (although I now have new forks but still use 9.5n springs).

At the other end Bipostos should have a 7.5n spring in the shock which is probably about right, oddly although the Mono versions have a softer shock spring which suits the typical 'race jockey' weight they still have the hard fork springs? so the Biposto is a better setup bike for anyone over 10st.

In short for a company with so much race/suspension experience the original setup is generally pretty crap!

Edited to add; I initially read that you have a 996 so what I said maybe total bollocks with respect to a 999....

  5. Thanks for all the input guys Im going to set the sag up and see if I can get it within range first with these springs. If not then I will get the correct ones ordered for my weight.
