999 Emissions and Sound Levels

  1. Hi Folks,

Does anyone have the Exhaust Emissions and Sound Levels info for the 2005 / 2006 999 ?

I have imported (well am still trying to actually get the plate from DVLA...) my 999 which I bought from my mate on Jersey last year.

I have repaired and serviced the bike ready for the "Summer", paid all the duties owed, jumped through most of the hoops and have virtually all the info I need for the DVLA docs except for the Exhaust Emissions and Sound Levels.

I have trawled through all the listed Tech Specs in the service manual and on the Ducati website etc but it only lists "EURO2" for the emissions without actually listing any figures. I have found the standards for EURO2 which are:

    CO 5.50
    HC 1.00
    NOx 0.3

but I am guessing these are the limits and the actual Duke figures would be much less.

I don't really want to go down the Certificate Of Conformity route as:

    1) I am up to my ears in paperwork already.
    2) Can't actually find an email contact to obtain this.
    3) Believe they know all this anyway.
    4) Don't want to delay it any longer.
    5) Don't want to take time off work to phone Ducati during the week.
    6) Don't want to jump through any more hoops. In fact I want to burn them.

So if you have a '05 or '06 999 and don't mind advising of these following figures from your V5 I would be super grateful and will get my girlfriend to go back to the DVLA office with 100% of the info I need together with the 84 pieces of ID they ask for in addition (even though they have it all already).... AAAAAaaaaaaargh!

Anyway here is the info I could do with... (The bike is the base model in standard trim)

    U Sound Level
    U.1 stationary (dB(A))
    U.2 engine speed (min-1)
    U.3 drive-by (dB(A))
    V Exhaust Emissions
    V.1 CO (g/km or g/kWh)
    V.2 HC (g/km or g/kWh)
    V.3 NOx (g/km or g/kWh)
    V.4 HC+NOx (g/km)
V.5 particulates (g/km or g/kWh) This one is probably not needed...

    Assistance greatly appreciated...

  2. This is ridiculous if the std exhaust is on then it is euro2 legal ,surely this is the only requirement . Some jobs worth is making life difficult for difficult sake.
in std trim I would have thought the db to be 92-95

  3. Thanks for the reply PJ.

    Yup - It is rediculous...

Customs and Revenue had a form to fill in which was complicated enough for the Tax and Duty but DVLA's requirements make that look like a Burger King Menu.

Part of the DVLA form is the bit about emissions and sound etc (every V5C log Book has it on there for cars and bikes) and that is the bit that I am struggling to obtain. Ideally if I can find someone with the same model bike they would have this listed on their Registration Document.

I think if I get a Certificate of Conformity for it from Ducati it would have it on there, but I fear I will have to pay over 50 quid and have to wait a couple of months for about 7 figures (one of which is two other ones in the same group added together!!!)

    You have to laugh really...

But you are dead right... "Is it standard? Yes.... Then it is Euro 2 Emissions .... Here is your Log Book Mr Desmo..."
