Morning gents. As I've been posting I suffered a failed sprag last week and am in the process of awaiting parts. However I thought I would make myself useful and give her a full service etc while she sits idle. No problems there or so I thought. Treated her to a new battery and all the oils and plugs as usual. Well today I fitted brand new battery all charges etc and on this sunny morning I was greeted to another unwelcome present from the red haired b*tch! Error code xmas tree . . . 37.0 37.3 38.0 I didn't remove any cables other than battery connections so you can imagine my frustration . Surely just removing a battery and replacing like I have done 3 times over her life would not cause so much hassle . Any ideas where I may have gone wrong gents. ?? Like maybe look at her funny !! I thought my benelli tornado was a knightmare but this thing is just testing me everyday. . I've checked the connections and the usual earths etc but she's decided to just give up Again ! And I haven't even got to the sprag yet . Help !
I believe it's something to do with the immobiliser: 37.0 Immobiliser (transponder) 37.1 Immobiliser (antenna) 37.2 Immobiliser (instrument panel serial driver) 37.3 Immobiliser (serial cabledisconnected) 37.4 Immobiliser (ccm serial drive) 37.5 Immobiliser (key not recognised) 37.6 Can Line error The list i found didn't go to 38.
Check the injector/coil/pump relay. This £1.99 part is a likely suspect. Unfortunately it is found on the back of the battery box, below the starter solenoid. Don't try to clean it, replace it. It should really be a service item for all the problems it causes.
Cheers guys . Just spoke to ducati. They themselves say that this data tool 3 is more hassle than it's worth. . I'll go pick up relay. Just a point to note ignition on fine clocks working fine but it does make a seriously worrying fast pace clicking behind the battery box ! When power on . Likely culprit is that relay Chris. Thanks for the heads up .
While you are there, you can relocate it. I put mine above the battery, in a plastic bag to keep it dry.
Go figure . I pulled the battery box out and took her out and rep lugged her back in . Great no clicking front the relay but now immobiliser error code . So two down one to go. I'll order a new one as advised by Chris. Slowly getting there . Just the 37.1 code to figure out now . Cheers to all . It's a long day !!
All cleared . Legendary effort and info for a week day guys. All errors cleared . Just trying to source a new relay to make sure it stays that way. Now onto the dreaded sprag Once again guys thank you Very humbled
Just a quick note . Does anyone know where to get relays etc quick smart. I can't get to ducati for a week or so as this is the daily ride ? Andy
You need a 4 pin micro relay. If you can't get one at a motor factors then try someone who does trailers/tow bars. Buy a spare.
Sorry to bother again Chris. I have no writing left on my current faulty relay . Do I need 20 or 25 amp ?
Cheers bdy . Relocated the relay to the top and back to square one with faults so hopefully the new relay will do the trick . I'll keep all posted
To protect the relay I cut a finger off the Mrs rubber gloves & cable tied the bottom . Seems to have worked .
You could use a toggy, a used one might work as cheap form of dielectric gel, on the other hand it may not and actually be detrimental so maybe don't do that. :Bookworm:
Fantastic advice lads. I went down to the local parts shop but had no joy. Though today chances my luck at the bike breakers (winsford) gave me two relays for free. Both working so, fitted and spare strapped to the battery box too. Hope this solves the problem once and for all .
