999 rear shock, showa vs sachs

  1. I need to replace my 03 999 rear shock, only because the spring has some serious rust & looks crap. I have sourced a new 05 model shock, but I was told its made by sachs, not showa as the existing is. All the searches I've made suggest sachs is crap & showa is better, I might just keep the rust spring if that is the case.

Any suggestions regarding the Sachs rear suspension on an 05 model vs the Showa 03 model? Keep cosmeticallly rusty 03 showa or spend £100 on new sachs shock?

  2. Get your Showa spring off and powder coated.....

  3. I've got a later swingarm 05. Pretty sure I have a Showa shock on it. But that would be typical Ducati - just depends on what is in the parts bin on the day your bike is made.

  4. I have a spare Ohlins spring that may fit
