Hi All, Getting home from work on Friday a blinking wrench came on the dash, reading the manual it's an indication it's time for a service. I'm quite short on cash... thus not going to be able to take it to a dealer necessarily... can anyone advise what I should replace on the bike at this point? Assuming that I can turn off the service notification on the dash via ducatidiag? I have done before and I'm happy to replace engine oil, and oil filter, possibly the air filter, top up the fluids. Anything else anyone would advise? Thanks ahead of time. B
How long ago was the last service? Belts should be changed every 6k or 2 years if I remember right...
Last service was September 2011, so a 1.5 years ago, at 9,700 miles it's at 12,500 miles now. From what you say it might not quite yet be time for belts to be changed? can put it off another 6 months or so? I'll change the oil and the oil filter, looks like all the fluids are topped up except the coolant. Would it be safe to put same coolant as in the car to the bike? I've been reading a lot of controversial stuff... what do you suggest?
Nope bike only coolant , air filters are reusable ,wash and lightly oil them . fuel filter , belts I'd leave for 6-12mths
Oil and filter are normally changed every year but with that low milage not strictly necessary. My personal service schedule on my 999 is, Yearly- oil/filter/check belts etc. Every 2 years-Oil/filter/change belts/shim check. I change all fluids every alternate year(brake/fork/coolant).
Thanks guys for all the input. I will change the oil and oil filter, belts looks like were done about 3k miles ago so I' leave for another while, I'll have to top up coolant, and I will leave replacing the fluids till late this year / early next year when i do the belts.
Does anyone know somewhere relatively inexpensive who does full ducati services around south UK? (I live in Reading) and what sort of price would I have to pay?
Now there's two phrases that don't go together, inexpensive and ducati. If you're after main dealer then you've got ducati Aylesbury, moto rapido in Winchester and snells in Alton.
