  1. Hi All,
you all warned me once the Ducati ownership bug had bit its a downward spiral......and you were right, so im off to see a 999s later today and wondered if you could offer any advice before buying. The bikes a 2007 Xerox Bayliss rep, where they an official rep in 999s form or a dream machine jobbie, ive been assured that the bodywork is official but I'm not so sure!!
    Cheers

  2. Official Xerox's were R's Maybe it is official bodywork taken from an R. Do you have a link for the Xerox advert? And I would defo not say Ducati ownership is a downward spiral.

  3. Mmmm thats what i thought, ill have a look and report back, cheers Mr C.
Downward spiral as in, i need to buy more Ducati's cos one just isnt enough arghhhhhh......addiction they call it i think:upyeah::upyeah:

  4. Looks nice enough, I think the Xerox 999R's were carbon fairings. Take it as a replica replica lol

  5. Moved to superbike

  6. That's a biposta with a seat cowl, not many 05/06 S with dual seat made. You will want the seat pad and pillion footpegs for resale. Definitely not factory graphics, maybe done by a dealership. Check if its painted or sticker kit or maybe half-half, and how well its done.

  7. Without stating the obvious, check the bar ends for scrape marks, the cases for scrape marks and the front wheel and the head stock for alignment. Check the fairing super carefully for scratches - small indentations with no drag indicates a stationary drop, indentations with drag indicates a moving spill.

I know its obvious but I've bought a well concealed lemon in the past and won't be bitten again!

  8. Thanks for the advice chaps.
Had a good look today and all looks and sounds fine, guy assured me it's a pukka Ducati factory paintjob which was an option (in very limited numbers) on the 999S as well as the 999R. Paintwork looks perfect in everyway tho not totally to my taste!
All usual bells n whistles are there inc PC and Showa injectors as well as full service history, books, card and keys, only downside is that its a bit rough round the edges so needs a bit of TLC...mmmmmm what to do next!!!!

  9. Its not come from the Factory like that. Xerox was R only and not an option on on other models. I have never heard of a Xerox 999s Bip

What kind of money is he asking?

  10. 6K, prices for 999's are on the up by the looks of things!. Thought about a Sport Clasic too but jesus they're expensive.....and rare

  11. As stated Paint job was ONLY available on late R's I suspect its been painted through the dealer to shift old stock

  12. £6k sounds a fair price for 2007 S I know you say it may need a little TLC but everything is fixable. Is £6k the advertised price or is there room for manoeuvre? Always worth a cheeky bid

  13. Might be 05/06 but it wont be 07 as they didnt make any 999 after 06 . Reputedly they made the parts unlimited U.S. bike but again it could be old stock rehashed for a sale .

  14. Bike was registered August 07 so looks like one of the last ones which could explain the paint job, all history checks out too which is nice
    Still pondering

  15. I have seen 2007 999's

  16. You mean you have seen a 999 with an 07 number plate on it . That dosent make it an 07 bike it makes it a bike registered in 07 . The last 999 was 06. 10nth digit on the frame no. will tell.

  17. I have seen 07 plate 999's. Mine is a 03 built, registered 2005 but has 03 plate! However I sold a car a couple of months ago that was 04 build registered 06 and on an 06 plate. DVLA/VOSA must make up the rules as they go along
